I went to City Beach today and it is a bar, a restaurant, a billiards, a basketball court, a volleyball court, an indoor rock climbing wall...it's a very fun place to be!! Well what I want to do is try indoor rock climbing. It's a great cardiovascular workout PLUS it would be great for strengthening the upperbody and the core.
According to some calorie counter websites, indoor rock climbing would burn about 500-700 calories an hour. I think that this is a great way to get more physical activity/exercise into your life and a great way to socialize too! It's all too often that people want to get together around food or alcohol and honestly it is not easy on the wallet or the waistline!
This indoor rock climbing thing I want to try has special offers like "Ladies Night" and "Student Night". On these scheduled nights, wall climbing is half price for a day pass!!!
So try something new, invite your friends....
*want to try ballroom dancing? well, many salsa clubs offer group lessons at a very low cost and then the dance floor opens up after the lesson for a "clubbing" type experience.
*are you a bowler? checkout your local bowling alley, there are usually leagues you can join that will meet at a set time and day
*do you like to run? check out this website to find a running route www.usatf.org/routes/ invite a friend to walk/run with you.

doing a "doubles" workout
"Doubles" refers to completing two workouts in one day. This is ideally done by doing a workout in the morning and then a workout at night. It doesn't necessarily have to be done for every day you workout or done right after the other, but you can do it for several other reasons:
1] you can only devote about 30-45 minutes at a time to exercising during morn/night
2] you want to increase your results by working out more
3] exercising for 90 minutes straight is a little too tiring, so it's easier to split the time up.
4] increase the intensity of your exercise program by increasing its duration
I personally like to do a doubles workout because ChaLean extreme has 3 days of circuit training and only 2 days of cardio. So in order to increase my fat loss and do more cardio, I will do an additional cardio workout OUTSIDE of Chalean Extreme's schedule. Here's a peek at my exercise schedule
monday: Chalean Extreme Burn Ciruit 1, Turbo Jam Fat Blaster
tuesday: Chalean Extreme REST DAY, Turbo Jam Total Body Blast
wednesday: Chalean Extreme Burn Circuit 2, treadmill 30 mins
thursday: Chalean Extreme Burn Intervals & Ab Burner
friday: Chalean Extreme Burn Circuit 3, Turbo Jam Kickin' Core
saturday: Chalean Extreme REST DAY, 1-hr turbokickboxing class at 24 hr fitness
sunday: Chalean Extreme Burn It Off & Recharge (yoga)
Another good reason to do a doubles workout sometimes is because it can help you create a calorie deficit much easier, in case you are not a person who is very calorie conscious. I do not count calories in a diary or in a log of some sort, so I like to do an extra workout to burn several hundred EXTRA calories to make up for any overages in calorie consumption. Remember that if you want to have fat loss, your calories in must not exceed calories out. So burn baby burn those calories up!
Every once in a while I'll do a TRIPLES workout! you're probably saying, "wth, triples! this lady is CAARAZZZZY!" well really, I'm not, at least I think I'm not. lol.
When I do a triples workout I may be doing Chalean Extreme Burn Circuit 1, cardio AND a short 10 minute ab routine such as Chalean Extreme Ab Burner.
To me, any additional exercises you do outside of the scheduled program is just extra bonus points. =D But really, Burn Circuit 1 is about 35 minutes, I may do about 25 minutes of cardio and then 10 minutes of ab work...that comes down to about 70 minutes of exercise, so it's really a reasonable amount of exercise to do.
So when do I find time to do all of these workouts?? well say perhaps you can manage to wake up 30 minutes earlier in the morning, well those 30 minutes you have extra you can fit in a workout...that means you only have to put in 30 more minutes at night to workout if your goal is to exercise an hour each day.
If you can, feel free to split up your workouts! since I do home video workouts, I can do 1 dvd in the morn and 1 dvd at night.. voila!!!

Is Beachbody a Pyramid Scheme?
I've heard many times before that, "ehh Beachbody coaching is just a pyramid scheme, I'm not gonna get swept up into that". If your thinking that way you're probably approaching it from a standpoint that has brought you there through bad experiences. Forget about these phrases such as "pyramid scheme", "multi-level marketing", or "direct selling business".
However, Beachbody does not have these components that define a pyramid scheme!
A pyramid scheme has 3 common elements:
1] large, required initial investment or purchase of inventory
2] direct payment for recruiting additional persons under scheme
3] heavy emphasis on recruiting additional persons, with little or no emphasis on selling products
This what beachbody is all about:
1] NO required inventory
2] NO direct payment for recruiting in Beachbody
3] Beachbody is ALL about products to the consumers
Adding a coaching program to this company was in the best interest of the customer. As a Beachbody Coach, we are independent in that we have:
1] no additional employees
2] we obtain greatest coaching success by being a product of the product
3] greater experience and knowledge of the programs so that we can better help our customers
4] a non-salaried advocate of the company to create new customer activity
5] the opportunity to get paid to be fit through the system of sharing
This opportunity has been tremendous for me. I truly believe that coaching has connected how I feel about life with exercise. It has helped me create a new type of confidence that is above just being myself and caring only about myself. I have the confidence that I can empower others to change their lives around, one that includes health and exercise and overall wellness. When you can inspire others just through your actions alone, and you've been that cheerleader behind them, that's a positive impact that I never thought that I could ever do for so many people. That is, not until I became a Beachbody Coach.
Another sense of satisfaction comes out of being a coach because since coaching is my business, I can also motivate myself even more through my workouts and push myself to my upper limits! If I expect myself to be a product of a product and my business success depends on this..well then I have a new motivation for pushing play on my dvd player. People want a coach that can confidently guide them along their fitness experience and the only way a coach can successfully do that is by leading the life he/she is recommending to others.
I am not speaking as a Beachbody Coach, I am speaking from the heart of a 23-year old Chinese American girl who once thought that all she could do is receive a paycheck for something that she's good at. But why stop at being good at anything? It's not about doing something and then just doing it right, it's about finding FULFILLMENT, joy and happiness that comes along with coaching others to be fit and to get motivated to do something for themselves that YOU KNOW will make them feel good. It's about thinking of others and being more than just yourself. If you want to be somebody's muse, somebody's inspiration, become a beachbody coach because it's seriously changed my life and my outlook.

Jackie Warner

Sometimes starting a fitness routine begins with having a role model. One of my role models of fitness is Jackie Warner. She's a top LA trainer who made it big at a young age as a result of her drive, and almost compulsion, for excellence. The reason why I love her is because she believes that one of the crucial factors to successfully losing weight is by having a strong support network. Really though, think about it...is anybody really alone here? No, not ever. You are constantly surrounded by either your family, your coworkers or your friends.
She also has some great fitness tips! Like for example, she doesn't believe in complicated diets. If you don't want to fail, then have some common sense and find out how to eat in the real world! The other thing is that she tells her clients to CLEAN HOUSE! trash all that JUNK from your kitchen that makes you hate yourself because you couldn't resist yourself from eating it. This includes all those chips, cookies, candies....those addictive junk foods that can call your name from across the room.
"It all comes down to decisions, choices, & focus"
My all-time favorite quote of hers:
"How you train is how you tackle life. Don't avoid discomfort; deal with it head-on to get stronger. Learn how to work out with passion and that fire will carry over into everything you do."

This is me!
I can't decide how I should start a blog except that I should probably start by making an introduction of myself! So here it goes...
My name is Kimberly Huey and I am your "girl next door" kind of gal. I'm a 3rd generation Chinese American and like most Chinese folks, my skin tone is yellow, my cheekbones are high, my eyes are small, and I'm a short stature of 5'2". But don't underestimate my capabilities because I am far from your average Chinese girl. I'm a firecracker in a small package. No, I don't fit the stereotype of being a geek in school nor do I know how to karate chop your ass...HECK! I don't even speak Cantonese or Mandarin for goodness sakes! Although, yes, I do play the piano. But who I really am is a person who doesn't just sit around and wait for life to happen. I will make it happen, whether it's in my career, my personal relationships, or even the whole world at large...I am committed to making each one good.
I have a drive and spirit that would impress you and it is a blend of promise and possibility that I will share with you. It's a bug! If you want to know my "secret" it's that I live life with a sense of purpose. My dreams, my choices, and my plans are with tremendous purpose!
Why do I believe that an Elite Experience Starts With You? Well, it's because you write the pages of your own life's story. This blog is about helping you find the inner strength, the determination, and the drive to help you become a healthier, stronger, and leaner you! I will chronicle my own journey with fitness and healthy eating and my goal is to become your source of motivation, inspiration and information.
